Tally USS New York

Description

Tally USS New York. Condition very nice. Original World War One era. Navy enlisted Tally hat for the Blue uniform. These are with a bigger circumference than the WWII type pattern. Original Tally to the Battleship USS New York (BB-34). Credited with sinking a German U-Boat in WWI. Even if by accident.

Refitted and used in WWII in Africa (Torch) and Iwo Jima, to Okinawa. I believe 3 battle stars total. Silken tally is the EARLY type design FINE ribbon. Woven letters. Color is a much Bluer that the shown WWII type smaller beside it.

Small slice where stretcher came through years ago. tightening cord have red silk on for a good lok while worn. Scarcer tally cap from a Flag ship of the US Navy for years. Excellent color.
