US Sloop Hornet 1829. Condition used Amazing… Cannot find another to compare it with or archived. ORIGINAL on Tray type cotton print paper. Impressed from the printer press. Contains famous poem from JG Ely along with news of disaster. Printed in 1829 in New York. Called a “Broadside” as printed on only one side. Sold on the streets and hung up for the daily news.
VERY SCARCE. Found in a family scrap book loose. Not trimmed. Fold lines as seen with some tattering. AMAZING to be 197 years old. Early navy item from a WELL KNOWN American naval vessle that fought in the War of 1812 and gained fame. All loss of life. Would be wonderful framed.
