Likely used in Chestershire for home guard. Bottom strap removed from back. Common for these that were reissued in WWII for these units.

A excellent piece by Mills Equipment Co. Also could use on WWI system ignoring the date. Easily a strap can be replaced is needed.

The “CH” could be another location as well.
