Navy officer sword WWII. EXCELLENT condition. Full size and length. One of the BEST manufactures of the Pre WWII era! Hilborn and Hamburg with the Viking brand as well attached. Made in USA also stamped on blade with full naval engraving to the plated blade. Correct plastic grips with deluxe wrap.
VERY heavy construction of the scabbard. Also weighing in alone at 1 lb 5 oz. Together it weighs in at a whopping 2 lbs and 15 oz.
Retains most of the guild finish. Original mounted bullion portepee still tied. and the original leather holder in buckskin color. Initials on the flap are for the name engraved on the blade “Ben A. Parnell” I have some history of this well known Banker here in Springfield Mo. also seen in the photos.
I usually don’t mess with Naval swords that often due to difficult to date. This one is Pre-1941 due to the eagle facing its left and the manufacture name with the added Viking brand. Also one of the best I have seen in quality and detail. After 1942 these are very hard to date unless named. This one is pre42. Some wear to carrier as seen.
