Description
GROUP 778TH TANK CMDR RICE. Easy to look up the details including the battle of the Bulge participation with MANY others. This soldier was an enlisted rank in 1936 and then a Lt. Colonel by 1944. Commander of 778th tank battalion this officer rose in rank fast.
This grouping includes his dog tag, several photos of him in the field, and nice paperwork. Also included is some of his earned medals and ribbon bars. These include the Silver Star, Soldiers Medal, Bronze star, and an array of others you can see in the photos including the Purple heart in the original box (unnamed as not a KIA).
As well Several pieces of rank are present. Patches are from several of his units including the scarce 778th Armored patch. A great overall grouping that is easily researchable. This officer was well decorated, and the Soldiers medal is such a seldom seen awarded medal in WWII.
Commander unit groupings are a VERY hard find and this one comes from one of the better armored units of WWII. This grouping of the 778th tank battalion commander would be a highlight to any collection.
