Exempt lapel button WWI. Condition excellent. Issued to citizens that were either working an essential job, or did not meet the requirements physically. Sometimes this was embarrassing when the rest of the nation was volunteering to fight in the war.
Lapel pins were issued to tell the public they were not avoiding the war but had another reason they were not over in France. Very interesting piece of the history of WWI back home.
