1820’s Navy Midship dirk. Condition used excellent. Dirk issued and carried by midshipmen in the US Navy. Silver Pommel and cross guard. Checkered Bone grip with crack or repair from long ago. scabbard in Great condition with no major issued or splits. Original end. Original frog stud. No makers mark as typical in this pattern seen. Full double sided blade 4.5 inches.

Overall length of 8.5 inches with scabbard on. Detailed cross guard with the turned down sides to protect from water entering scabbard. These dirks carried for a job title recognition on ships. By this time they were ceromonial type pieces but used daily as a knife more or less. VERY over looked by collectors. EARLY Naval history. Guaranteed original.

Named on side to “Joel B” (Blackmon). South Carolina roots to this item as well. Family thought Civil War used as well. This one dated From 1820’s to the early 1840’s. One of the better ones seen on the market for a while. STRAIGHT from FAMILY. NEVER ON MARKET BEFORE. Heavy tarnish.
